HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Another milestone was reached by Mrs. Cook. She celebrated her 104th birthday on January 5th. Surrounded by friends and staff, she was serenaded and we all enjoyed cake with her. Frances resides in the Assisted Living Residence at Gramercy Court, coming to us in 2001.
Frances made her grand entrance into this world in 1905, in Fall River, Kansas. A high school graduate, she worked as a secretary for 10 years. She has outlived 2 husbands and a son. She has a remaining daughter, Ellie.
In her professional life, she was active in clubs and also volunteered at a hospital. She has traveled throughout the U.S., but her best memories are of her cruises to Hawaii and the Caribbean. Daughter Ellie reported that she was a good cook and “I use to tease her about that because her last name was Cook.” Other hobbies included sewing, quilting, playing bridge and reading. An avid reader, she read 3 to 4 books a week. She still reads, but not as much. Frances is a very social person, and enjoys the activities and events offered at Gramercy Court. She has a full schedule of Television, Reading and Bingo is a favorite. She comes to the many musical programs and enjoys Country-Western music. “I like to get my hair done,” spoken with lady-like aplomb. Best of all, Frances is celebrating a New Year, her 104th. And may she have the best of everything with this coming year!
MAY YOUR 2009 BE HAPPY, HEALTHY & PROSPEROUS!
