WELCOME TO 2008!

Residents and staff have reached a climatic celebration that is awaited by all.  We plan, preen, prance and finally get to the New Year, 2008.  Others may say, "Is that all there is?"  It is put pretty succinctly by one gentleman who celebrated his 100th birthday last year in 2007.  He said, "I woke up this morning!" when asked why being a hundred was so great.  Perhaps we need to look at our personal cups and decide whether it is half full or half empty!  During the Christmas Celebration, I asked the staff if their Christmas stockings were half-full or half empty.  Most found positive things in their stockings.

2007 was a pretty hectic year.  Well, I say this at the beginning of each year.  This last year was hectic enough.  Perhaps, it is because as we become older, we look at things passed.  Gerontologists will claim that the future for the older person becomes murkier as one ages, so that one cannot look forward to the future and even claim to dwell on things passed.  However, I have to believe that when time gets short, the cups become fuller because of experiences had.  We just have to enjoy what we have! And quickly, lest we forget as time passes fast!

Another Christmas show was presented.  "As the Parade Passes By..."was enjoyed by all who attended.  I trust they enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed presenting it.  Kudos to the entire cast who toiled above and beyond their tour of duty to present the program for the residents, families and friends from the community.  Even the shiest of all belted out their show songs and claimed to enjoy it after the fact!  One attendee said, "You should take the show on the road!"
